The Forward Point Universal Tray Insert System is a precision 3D-printed cartridge tray designed to drop straight into a rugged hard case and hold every round exactly where it should be. Instead of a different tray for every calibre, the system groups the cartridges Australian shooters actually run into families by the widest part that enters the pocket — rifle, lever, handgun, .22 LR and 12 gauge.

Choosing A Pistol Tray
One bore can't be snug across the whole handgun range — a .45 ACP case head is 12.09 mm and a .38 Special is 9.63. So the pistol tray comes in three bores, and you pick by case head, not by what the pistol is chambered in.
- Small Bore — the volume tray. 9mm, .38 Special and .357 Magnum all live here, 135 rounds to a tray.
- Mid Bore — the .40 family on its own, sized tight at 0.22 mm a side.
- Large Bore — .45 and .44. Will also take the .40 family if you'd rather run one tray.
Rounds Stay Put
Every tray is dimensioned against the internal height of the case so a round can't lift far enough to clear its pocket — turn the case over and nothing moves. Handgun rounds sit projectile-down on a raised floor, so what stands proud is brass, not bullet. Shotshells stand crimp-down on the case floor with 8–14 mm of brass head exposed. .22 LR hangs on the rim with the projectile shielded below. Lever rounds stand on the case floor in a 36 mm collar with 25–29 mm to grab.
Fit Notes
- ENTERS is the widest part of the cartridge that actually goes into the pocket — the rim, belt or case head, depending on how the tray holds the round: the rim on the lever tray, the case head on the pistol trays, and the rim, belt or head on the rifle trays.
- Trays are universal within each family. Cartridge dimensions vary between manufacturers, and printing tolerance and ammunition variation mean a small margin is normal — verify yours before ordering.
Not Covered By The Tray System
- .17 HMR, .22 WMR, .22 WRF and .17 WSM — case head Ø6.15, larger than the .22 LR pocket. Use the Sleeve Case range, cut to calibre.
- .25 ACP — clears the bore, but at 23 mm overall it is too short for the 22 mm pistol sleeve to hold when the case is inverted.
- .454 Casull, .460 S&W and .500 S&W — too tall to stand on the pistol riser under a 95 mm lid. They run in the Magnum and Big Bore trays instead.
- .44 Magnum and .44 Special in the lever tray — the rim passes the collar, but at roughly 41 mm overall they are too short for a 36 mm collar to hold when inverted. Use Pistol — Large Bore.
- .45-70, .405 Winchester, .450 Marlin and .348 Winchester in the lever tray — rims and belts wider than the Ø13.58 collar. .45-70 and .348 Win go in Big Bore; .405 Win and .450 Marlin in Magnum.
- Anything longer than 95 mm loaded — the internal height of the case. The lid will not close.
